Athens Federal Foundation
The Athens Federal Foundation was established by Athens Bancshares Corporation (holding company of the former Athens Federal Community Bank) and its shareholders in 2009. The Foundation was created to provide funding and support for charitable causes within Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe and Polk counties in East Tennessee. In conjunction with an initial stock offering, Athens Bancshares Corporation contributed $1,000,000 of Athens Bancshares Corporation stock and $100,000 in cash to the Foundation.
The Foundation’s mission is to empower individuals and strengthen communities by investing in solutions that expand opportunity, break the cycle of poverty, and drive lasting change.
